For 240 games, the famous number 2 gave absolutely everything. A fearless defender, a respected captain and a bloke who never took a backward step, Spud was the kind of footballer every supporter wanted on their side.

But it was his personality that made him truly unforgettable. The booming laugh, the larger-than-life character and the ability to find the funny side of footy made Spud one of the game's most loved personalities, long after his playing days were done.
